Abstract:
This study brings as a proposal to present to graduating high school students of the Escola
Estadual de Ensino Médio Orlando Venancio Santos (EEEMOVS) the theme of Solidarity
Economy within the Youth and Adult Education (EJA) modaJity, as a possible instrument
guiding a field for the engender o f employment and income and, through this vision, motivate
them to explore new expectations in the job market, when this public is often denied job
opportunities because they have no study. This research had as a lever the experience in the
classroom with students o f the 3rd from high school year o f Youth and Adult Education o f
the Escola Estadual de Ensino Médio Orlando Venâncio Santos, municipality of Cuité - PB,
mediated by the observation of the resumption of studies after exclusion in the labor market.
The research was carried out with 53 students of said school. Among the main results, the
average age was approximately 22 years and the majority of the students were female
(54.72%). lt was found that women (68%) spent more time away from school. As for the
motivation that led them to return to study, the students responded in a way that showed the
desire to contest and get a better job. Regarding what they understood about Solidary
Economy in the EJA, the students reported that it is a form of economy that predominates
cooperation and self-management. Thus, students collaborated in a helpful and participative
way, showing interest in the subject addressed, seeing that the modality offers a new way for
them to change tbeir socioeconomic reaJity.
