Abstract:
This research is a result of the Specialization Course in Contextualized Education for dealing
with the semiarid, at UFCG/CDSA - Sumé, PB. It aimed to elaborate and carry out a
methodological proposal about "The Brazilian Semiarid" for Youth and Adult Education at
Escola Cidadã Integral Jornalista José Leal Ramos, in order to find out how the proposal can
help its students understand the Brazilian Semiarid Region. The proposal was developed
based on the discussions and questions from the curricular component Historical and Material
Conditions of Production of the Existence of Men and Women in the Brazilian Semiarid
Region, carried out in the aforementioned specialization course, in which an opportunity for
classroom experience was provided. The research methodology is qualitative in nature, using
bibliographic procedure for literature review and the construction of the theoretical
framework about the Semi-arid region: (MALVEZZI, 2007; AB’SABER, 2003; MOTA,
2018), the participant research (MARQUES, 2016), among others. As a conclusion, a
contextualized education proposal for EJA students in the Semiarid region cannot be limited
only to pedagogical aspects. It must assume a pedagogical political character of
transformation, and it must be an education constructed and discussed in the historical context
of those involved with the pedagogical proposal.
