Resumen:
The area of sports nutrition has been on the rise in recent years, as, in the face of the most
recent studies, there is no doubt about the importance of proper nutrition and
individualized to make the athlete's maximum potential tangible. And it comes, each time
more, attracting the focus of physical educators and nutritionists as part of a team
in preparing the athlete for competition. It is no different in the preparation of the practitioner of
jiu-jitsu, a sport that is gaining popularity in Brazil, and like others
sports needs to be assisted by professionals who ensure the health of athletes in the
constant oscillation of mass that the weight ranges of weight require in the period
competitive. Considering that athletes have different nutritional needs of
sedentary or moderately active individuals, the adequacy of consumption is questioned
food against the established recommendations. In view of this, the present study
evaluated the food consumption of amateur jiu-jitsu practitioners in the city of Cuité-
PB, aiming to know their food and nutritional profile. The research is about a
cross-sectional study of descriptive and quantitative analysis, which was composed of a
sample of eleven athletes, ten males and one female, with
age group between 18 and 35 years old. The information on anthropometry indicated
that the average weight, height and fat percentage was 79.89 kg, 1.75 m, 14.51 %
respectively. Information about food consumption was obtained
using the 24-hour recall, applied on three alternate days, including the end
of week. The results of the dietary assessment, obtained through the program
vanutri® indicated that the eating habits of athletes do not include the
principle of a balanced diet, as they are inadequate in the face of
recommendations established for the sport. Regarding the content of
energy and macronutrients, the diet of the studied athletes was hypocaloric,
hypoglycidic, normoproteinic and normolipidic. In the micronutrient content, when
observed the averages of consumption, most of the micronutrients presented themselves in
agreement with the recommendations, however, some important
micronutrients with a consumption below the recommendations (<EAR), where
frame the findings of vitamins A and B5, calcium, magnesium and potassium, or above the
recommendations (>UL), which include vitamin C, iron and sodium. the proper
intake of minerals and vitamins, as the established recommendations are
essential since, individually, these nutrients have particularities and, in
in case of insufficiency or excess, they can cause damage to the health of those who are
consuming wrongly. In this context, the need for guidance and
individualized nutritional monitoring to adapt eating habits to
in order to meet the nutritional requirements of the sport and, consequently, obtain
improvement in sports performance.
