Food and Nutrition (INSAN) is present in the home when there is no compliance with this
right and this condition can negatively affect the quality of life of families or any
member. As well, it is a health risk factor. Classification of food insecurity
in different gradients corresponds to different levels: Light, Moderate and Severe. O
purpose of this study is to analyze food and nutrition security at home and quality of life
in women residing in a small municipality in the state of Paraiba. Its about
a quantitative research carried out with 274 women, where the evaluation of SAN was carried out through the
Brazilian Scale of Food Insecurity (EBIA) and quality of life according to the WHOQOL-bref survey. Quality of Life (QoL) was assessed through average scores for each domain, as well as
classified as Low and Good quality of life. For data analysis, the SPSS software was used. Was
descriptive analysis and chi-square test (p<0.05) were performed. Most of the interviewees belonged to
age group 20-59 years old, had completed or incomplete primary education and income up to Yz
minimum wage. The prevalence of SAN in the study population is 60.6% and 39.5% of INSAN. O
score with the best average of QoL refers to the domain of social relationships, 71,27 and
comes closer to a good quality of life. Low QoL is present in the Physical, Psychological and Environment domains, 54.41; 55.94 and 56.82, respectively. The relationship of SANe QV, showed
that there is a higher prevalence of Good QoL among families classified as SAN when compared to
INSAN. As the intensity of the lNSAN increases, the QoL is lower, the significant prevalences
they are for the psychological domain (p<0.009), social relationships (p<0.008) and environment (p<0.001 ).In this sense, dietary practices should be thought of with greater attention to
social needs of the individual and thus reduce inequity in health and guarantee better
quality of life. Seeking to promote integrality, intersectoriality, equity and participation
social, as well as designating debates about public food, social, economic and
health actions.
