part of managers and health professionals, in particular the pharmacist, due to the
exacerbated consumption of these substances, prescription errors and the consequent
Adverse reactions. The present work aimed to analyze the prescriptions of
psychopharmaceuticals in the Basic Pharmacy of the city of Catolé do Rocha - PB, check the
adequacy of these recipes according to legislation and identify the profile of users
of these substances. This is a cross-sectional, quantitative and descriptive study whose
sample was psychotropic drug users. Through the application of questionnaires it was possible
know the socioeconomic and demographic profile of individuals and analyze any errors
of prescriptions, based on ordinance 344/98. 200 patients were interviewed, with
emphasis on females (63%), aged between 51 and 60 years (21.5%), predominance of
low education (56.5%) and retirees (44.5%). The most used drug was the
Clonazepam (18.6%), the average time of use was 5 years (44%), being observed
nonconformities in the prescriptions (34.2%). Thus, it is concluded that the majority of
individuals are elderly and make indiscriminate use of the drugs studied,
demonstrating a public health problem, in addition to the need for safe guidance.
