Resumo:
This work was developed with the objective of identifying the correlation between
temperature and leakage current in distribution lightning rods, since these are great
indicators of possible defects in these electrical network protection equipment.
Monitoring the condition of the lightning rod is essential for greater protection of the
electrical network, thus bringing greater reliability to the system. Given this, temperature
and leakage current measurements were made in several arrays of the distribution network
of campus I of the Federal University of Campina Grande and in a controlled
environment, in the High Voltage Laboratory of the Federal University of Campina
Grande. In addition, measurements were made with lightning rods from different
manufacturers, in order to obtain greater precision in the results. From the analysis of the
results obtained, it was possible to establish a correlation between the leakage current and
the temperature of the lightning rods.
