New sections of benturiform clays were found in the municipalities of Olivedos and Cubatins in the state of Paraíba, in a matter of shortage of better quality clays. Studies have shown the rheological properties of bentonite clays are influenced by variables such as: moisture content and curing time, because they directly influence the cation exchange capacity of bentonites added with sodium carbonate. Thus, this objective study studies the influence of curing time and the resistance index on the dispersion of the new blocks of bentonite clays of Paraíba, the applications in aqueous drilling fluids. As clays were benefited by hydrocyclone,
were characterized as physical, chemical and mineralogical by X-ray variation, analyzed by fluorescence analysis, analyzed by means of laser granulometric analysis, with thermal and thermogravimetric analysis, exchange capacity images and area. Objective After characterization, as natural clays were transformed into
monolayers by means of sodium carbonate, varying the moisture content of 25%, 35%, 45%, 50% and 60% and curing times of 7, 15, 30 and 45 days, stored in closed plastic machines, for further evaluation of the rheological and filtration study. As rheological and filtration properties were determined by apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity and filtrate volume. The results obtained show that the results of the properties were 60% and the cure time was 15 days. It was also observed that after 15 days of cure of the clays, there was a substructure in the rheological properties of the clays studied.
