Résumé:
This work studies the conduct development of a soft clay from João Pessoa when it is submitted to stabilization using lime in natural conditions of humidity focusing the changes occured in the clay's engineering properties. The samples were collected using tubes from thin walls called "shelby". These samples were submitted to laboratory test in natural conditions and with lime. The mineralogical tests by chermodifferential analysis have shown that deals about a kaolinitic clay with organic matter, this characteristic was confirmed by combustion test with alcohol and peroxide of oxygen. Other characterization of the specific area and the liquid limit by penetration of the cone, were done. The strenght shear was evaluated by the laboratorial vane test and by simple compression test. It proved that it is a clay of a mid sensibility. Moreover, the soils, were treated with 3, 6, 8 and 12% of lime and the tests of plasticity, granulometry and strenght, previously refered, were done again after 3, 28 and 60 days of cure. Considering the results got in the research . It can be observed that the progress of the tratment with lime was hardly affected by the tenor of the organic matter that is present in the soil. It was not observed significative improviment in the clay's characteristic of strenght, consolidation and granulometry. Therefore was checked an essential degrease in the lime soil's plasticity.
