Abstract:
The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of the Pístia Stratiotes plant in the phytoremediation of residual water from fish farming. The effluent was submitted to four levels of coverage with P. stratiotes (0, 33, 66 and 100%) with three replicates. The plants were stored in 12 aquariums (29 x 33 cm), which were provided with residual water from a nursery producing tilapia. The parameters evaluated were: pH, dissolved oxygen (OD), color, temperature, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (SDT), nitrogen and phosphorus. After 8 days of experiment, the plants entered a decomposition process, which generated an increase in the electrical conductivity of the water and the total solids dissolved as a function of the storage density of P. stratiotes. It was concluded that the pístia had no phytoremediation effect on the residual water of the fish culture.
