De Ésquilo a O'Neill: análise comparativa da ação da mulher em Oréstia e em Mourning Becomes Electra.

Abstract

This work has objective compare prestigious works of the American and Greek theater, Mourning becomes Electra (Electra Makes Good of Mourning) of the playwright Eugene O'Neill (1888­1953) and Oresteia of the playwright and philosopher Ésquilo. The first will be compare to the second on the topics related to psychoanalysis and feminism, through the choices and attitudes of the people and as a movement of destiny for action in the lives of the protagonists in both works. Observing the problems related to sexuality, psychological dramas, suicide and betrayals, presenting elements that marked an era in which wrote an O'neillian tragedy, such as feminist and class struggles. In addition to presenting the resources used by O'Neill to adapt a work in modernity and develop the plot of the piece inspired by the Greek theater, and how the actions of the characters change the end of each piece. Thus, in Electra It is Well of Mourning and in Oréstia, the comparison will be made of the choices of the family Mannon and of Agamnon, with respect to the risks that took them ruin and glory and like fate manifest the protagonists of the work O'neilliana, Even That it has been replaced in modern compositions by action.
