Resumo:
Fungi are widely distributed in the environment, playing an important role
in the decomposition of organic matter, but, in certain circumstances, may be responsible
for medical and economic complications. The air quality of a hospital requires special
attention, given that it should have the lowest possible microbial load, to prevent infections
Related to Health Care (IRAS), especially in the most debilitated patients.
Given the above, the objective was to understand the profile of airborne fungi found
in Brazilian hospitals in the last fifteen years. To this end, a review was carried out.
integrative into seven databases. After searching the literature, observing the criteria of
inclusion and exclusion, eight articles were part of the study, in which it was found that fungi
most commonly found were Aspergillus spp., Penicillium spp. and Cladosporium spp.
Fungi of the order Mucorales were observed in only one study. All fungi mentioned
can cause harm to human health, either by the capacity of infection or production of
toxins. Thus, it is concluded that the Brazilian hospitals investigated presented a
microbiota diversifies, with a predominance of the genus Aspergillus, found in practically
all locations, offering risks especially to immunosuppressed patients. Studies
of this nature are important, because with the monitoring of air quality, one can take
measures that reduce the risks for hospitalized and health professionals.
