Resumo:
Chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a set of conditions with
multiple causes that affect thousands of people around the world. In view of the
public health crisis that the world is facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CNCDs
assume a possible relationship with the worsening of people infected with the
coronavirus. Thus, the aim of this study was to know and assess the prevalence of
CNCDs as a risk factor for the worsening of COVID-19 in the state of Paraíba and in
the municipality of Cuité. This study had as methodology, an integrative review
through literature searches, available in electronic databases, with the objective of
obtaining scientific articles, journals, epidemiological bulletins that addressed the
subject. The research was conducted from May to September 2021 through files
available in the following electronic databases: Capes Journals, Electronic Libary
Online (SciElo), Virtual Health Library (VHL), Science Direct, Pubmed, Medline,
Databases data from official websites in Brazil, from 2016 to 2021. In Paraíba, in
2020, the city most affected by COVID-19 was the capital, where male individuals
were the most affected by the disease, with 63% . People who were affected by
COVID-19 and who had more severe clinical manifestations had the three main
CNCDs, such as heart disease (31%), DM (30%) and hypertension (13%). All studies
reveal, in fact, the relationship between CNCDs and COVID-19. Thus, it is concluded
that the prevalence of CNCD is high in patients affected with COVID-19, not only in
the state of Paraíba, but throughout Brazil, and this relationship brings complications
of the disease, which may even lead to the individual's death. . In this sense, the
Pharmacist is of paramount importance in the management and control of CNCDs,
as well as in patient care, promoting health, improving Pharmacotherapy,
establishing well-being and preventing diseases, especially in the face of the new
coronavirus pandemic, either in person or through technologies that maintain
distance, such as Telepharmacy.
