Resumo:
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of an autoimmune character that is mainly
characterized by the uncontrolled differentiation of keratinocytes, causing the formation
of scaly plaques on the skin, redness, and cracking. The current forms of treatment
available on the market show a variety of adverse reactions related to the use of systemic
drugs for long periods, increasing the risk of patient non-adherence. Cannabidiol (CBD)
is a non-psychoactive substance derived from the plant Cannabis sativa with anti-
inflammatory and antioxidant properties, in addition to accumulating mainly in the
membranes of keratinocytes, especially in patients with psoriasis. The results obtained
through the literature review show the therapeutic potential of this substance and its use
in topical medications, which are the first line of choice in the treatment of this
dermatosis. The design proposal of a cream containing cannabidiol for the treatment of
psoriasis brings advantages over the treatment alternatives available on the market, in
view of the loading and absorption of the CBD molecule by the cells, increasing the skin's
restoring power through hydration, reduction of free radicals and keratolytic action.
