Abstract:
To verify the association between socioeconomic, clinical and behavioral habits
data with the level of resilience in people with diabetes mellitus during social distancing in
the Corona Virus Disease 19 pandemic.
Method: cross-sectional, analytical and exploratory study. The population consisted of
users monitored by the Family Health Strategy, diagnosed with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
mellitus, in the city of Cuité, Paraiba, Brazil. Data were collected between November 2020
and February 2021. The collection was conducted through a form containing socioeconomic,
clinical, behavioral habits, and another form that was part of the Connor-Davidson
Resilience Scale for Brazil. In the bivariate analysis, Pearson's Chi-square and Fisher's
exact tests were performed, calculating the prevalence ratio, with the respective 95%
confidence intervals. Finally, Poisson Regression with robust variance was operationalized.
Results: there was a relationship with the elevated level of resilience in the variables age,
religion, use of alcoholic beverages and physical exercise. The prevalence of having an
elevated level of resilience increased by 43% for those under sixty, 39% for evangelicals,
36% for people who drank alcoholic beverages, and 29% for people who practiced physical
activity.
Conclusion: it is believed that this study brings significant contributions to the scientific
community, professionals involved in care and users living with Diabetes Mellitus, as the
findings lead to the construction of inclusive actions during the pandemic, especially to
emotional and social aspects.
