Abstract:
The term migration defines the movements that are carried out annually and
continuously in which a certain wild population moves seasonally, from the breeding
area to resting/feeding regions with later return to the place of origin. It is a
phenomenon seen in a range of animals, however, it is more commonly found in birds,
showing large variations due to physical and ecological factors. Hence the importance
of studies related to these species, as well as updates on areas of occurrence and
threat status. According to a study, a list was developed with 428 species for the entire
State of Paraíba, however, some of them do not have documentary evidence or were
found outside their distribution zones. Currently there is no list of migratory birds
referred to the state, in view of that, the present work intends to, through bibliographical
reviews, with data available in publications and specialized websites, present a list with
the species of migratory birds specifically from the State of Paraíba, compiling their
biological aspects and geographic distribution and, through this, expose information
about the migratory process of these birds, as well as the importance of conservation
of these species.
