Resumo:
In the present work, we aim to analyze the language conceptions underlying the discourses
pressente in the Portuguese textbook (PT), in order to observe the effects of meaning on the
language in these manuals. Thereby, we will observe the conceptions of language in 2
collections of Portuguese Language, of primary education II, more specifically, their volumes
of the 6th year: "Portuguese: languages", by William Cereja and Thereza Cochar, and
"Singular and plural: reading , production, language studies ", by Laura de Figueiredo, Marisa
Balthasar and Shirley Goulart. Thus, the conceptions of language will be analyzed from
exercises in the manuals that deal with the study of language. Our research is qualitative and
interpretative nature, assuming a discursive approach, by which is understood that the
language is invested with significance in discourse under certain production conditions. From
the theoretical point of view, we start from the studies on language conceptions (CASTILHO,
2010; BAGNO, 2011; MARCUSCHI, 2008), as well as on the study of language in the
teachinglearning
process (GERALDI, 1997; MUTTI, 2016; POSSENTI, 2007). The
theoretical framework which will give support is Discourse Analysis according to the
approaches of Orlandi (2007), Pêcheux (1990), Ferreira (2000), among other authors. The
research made possible to analyze the conceptions of language present in the discourse of
didactic manuals and through this, to study the effects of meaning of these discourses to the
readersubject.
As a result of the research, we found that both collections bring heterogeneous
conceptions of language, with description, descriptive, prescriptive, sociolinguistic and
discursive conceptions. However, in the discourse of the collection "Portuguese: languages",
by William Cereja and Thereza Cochar, we verified the predominance of a more
homogeneous conception of the language linked to a descriptive view of the language,
addressing mainly its nomenclature and the analysis of words in a given context of
production. In the collection "Singular and plural: reading, production, language studies", by
Laura de Figueiredo, Marisa Balthasar and Shirley Goulart, there is a more heterogeneous
discourse, with affiliations to descriptive, sociolinguistic and discursive language conceptions.
