Resumen:
This work presents some Topics in the History of Mathematics and their contributions to
the teaching-learning process in some stages of Basic Education. It shows the main features of the
Indo-Arabic and Egyptian Hieroglyph Decimal Numbering Systems, as well as their applications
in the development of algorithms for solving the basic arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division. We also describe some methods for solving 1st, 2nd and 3rd
degree equations, without the use of ready-made formulas devoid of didactic richness. By reading
some works and works focused on the historical context of Mathematics, I sought to show some
methods that can be worked on in Basic Education aiming at an approach to the discipline with
better methodological resources, which can add more meaning to the contents since we show its
importance within practical situations related to the real needs of humanity with regard to its
development in various areas. It was these resources that motivated me to elaborate this work, in
order to implement some of these methods in the classroom, always emphasizing their historical
aspects, as well as their influences to achieve the well-structured and coherent Mathematics we
know today.
