Abstract:
The role played by water in society is fundamental. With the increasingly frequent problems of
scarcity around the world, it is necessary to use this resource wisely, thus, addressing efficient
ways of handling water resources has become a necessary agenda to be studied by cities,
especially, smart cities(smart cities). In this sense, the present work aimed to carry out a
bibliometric analysis, seeking to identify the existence or not of the relationship between the term
water andsmart city in a legal, managerial and ecological matrix. For this, we used the
databasescopus as a means of obtaining research focused on the areas under study and the
VOSviewer software to work out the coupling. To achieve the proposed, the following specific
objectives were: a) Describe the trajectory of the terms city and smart city b) Analyze the level of
relationship between the term water andsmart city and c) Carry out a bibliographic analysis in the
VOSviewer software. Finally, it was observed that the concept of smart city has a focus on
environmental issues, but the studies analyzed mostly did not aim to study water.
