The present stud}' highlights the need for a new type of community - "the media community of life in the Holy Spirit" - sustained in communion bonds built and maintained in the media. The "community of life in the Holy Spirit" accounts for associations of charismatic catholic people that, usually under a founder's leadership, aim to achieve joint property whose model is that of primitive Christian community. We took up Comunidade Canção Nova as an empirical reference to analyze the phenomenon that, although territorially situated, has mostly expanded through television network by gathering people who start sharing its religious ideology as well as develop "media community relations." Despite defending autonomous source of knowledge almost always based on tradition, these communities have often adapted to contemporary demands searching for technological advances to their own benefit, creatively engaging in the cultural context of the informational society. The survey showed that the Comunidade Midiática Canção Nova just partially restricts individuals' autonomy providing conditions to establish a balance relation between community and individuality. We assume that communities, in the this new context generated by information technologies and media society, tend to be in permanent positive dispute having one another reflect on the plausibility of their particular system of values. As a whole, our purpose is to demonstrate that modern views have not affected "community" relations, and that the contemporary community phenomenon is sociologically modern. We also ensure that emergence in cultural communes is not only a new way of preserving autonomous source of knowledge contrary to homogenizing globalism, but also an attempt to preserve individual autonomy achievement with real modernity value.
