Abstract:
This work is developed within the perspective of Cultural History, in the branch of the history of religion, more specifically popular Catholicism. Its collaborators and agentes of the studied actions are the penitents of the city of Cedro, located in the Center-South region of the State of Ceará. Its objective is to understand, from the trajectory and experiences of the brotherhood, popular religiosity as the basis for the construction of identity and social and personal relations, as well as its plurality, reinterpretations and relevant implications for current historiographic production. We used oral history as a methodology, through interviews and field observation, in conversation with the bibliographic research of works on the theme and themes related to this.
