Resumen:
This work has as a goal to analyze the singing of viola propagated on Alto Piranhas radio in Cajazeiras - PB, as a cultural expression in the interior of Paraíba between the years (2004-2021), problematizing its production and dissemination through this environment of mass radio communication. Based on information about the functioning of viola singing programs, we aim to show the importance and reach that this media (radio) has by embracing a greater number of audiences who appreciate viola singing and its implications for this art. We dialogued with authors such as Pesavento (2012) and the issue of oral history, Cascudo (2005) and his studies on folklore and popular culture, Lopes (2001), Sautchuk (2009), Abreu (2018) among others that demarcate our research in field of social and cultural history. As a methodology, we used oral history procedures through data collection in interviews. Performed with two current singers of the radio show “Nordeste ao Som da Viola” and the analysis of some CDs from the Alto Piranhas radio collection was also important in the construction of the work. This methodological path allowed us to compress northeastern viola singing that will certainly contribute to awakening new research.
