Abstract:
The main theme of the present work is the practice of education as a tool for the
process of resocialization of inmates, as it is a guarantee provided for in the
Criminal Execution Law (Lei de Execução Penal. Law No. 7210 of 11 July 1984)
and according to the law itself drafting of the constitutional text. The text
considered a bibliographical analysis that spans from the historical evolution of
the penalty, as well as the Brazilian prison system, and proposes an
understanding of education as a resocializing instrument or why not
fundamental in the action of reintegration of individuals in the social
environment. Brazil throughout its trajectory, whether as a Portuguese colony or
an independent country, has seen significant changes in the Penal System,
which have been present until today. The research and reading about institutes
relevant to Criminal Law will allow a discussion on the way education is
proposed during the sentences applied to individuals, as well as its practice can
contribute positively in changing the inmate to the point of transforming their
reality after the fulfillment of the penalty, highlighting basic principles such as
the dignity of the human person. To carry out the research, the deductive
method was used, supported by the evolutionary bibliographic and documentary
technique.
