Abstract:
The objective of this study is to analyze how refugees were welcomed in Brazil during
the pandemic period, in 2020. The sanitary crisis caused by the SARSCoV2
virus
affected the world scenario in 2020. Brazil is inserted in this pandemic context and was
also severely affected by the impacts of Covid19.
Thus, to contain the virus, sanitary
barriers were imposed, affecting the national migration policy, including the reception
of refugees. A crisis cannot serve as a subterfuge for violations of rights, being
essential that humanitarian assistance be granted even in a period of pandemic. To
reach the scope of the research, the hypotheticaldeductive
research method was
used, with a bibliographicdocumental
procedure, in a descriptive research with a
qualitative approach. That said, this study concluded that imposed sanitary restrictions
caused a decrease in asylum requests, in the year 2020, in addition to the inefficiency
of specific Brazilian public policies for the reception of refugees during the Covid19
pandemic, based on the year of 2020.
