Socio-emotional development, when worked with and in conjunction with children's literature, can positively influence the school and social life of children. With children's literature, the reader participates and shares experiences according to their representation of the world, makes a relationship between the real and the imaginary, has fun, stimulates the imagination, in addition to developing comprehension skills and mastery of reading and writing. The present research had as general objective to apprehend and analyze how children's literature can influence the social-emotional development of children in kindergarten. Constituted as a qualitative research, it was applied to three teachers at three municipal schools in the city of Sousa, Paraíba. As a data collection instrument, the sociodemographic questionnaire and the directive questionnaire were used. The results showed that children's literature can positively influence the social-emotional development of children, stimulating their imagination, creativity, criticality, socialization and emotions.
