This study is entitled Challenges and Achievements in the participation of the family in the Alpha-reading process of Educandos, we believe that the family has a relevant role in this process, strengthening the relationship between family and school and the habit of reading to their children. The objective of the study is to identify the understanding of parents and guardians in the literacy process of their children, as a general objective: to understand the challenges and achievements in the family's participation in the students' literacy process. And as specific objectives: to identify the importance of family participation in the literacy process of students; Analyze the impact of the family literacy project on the informal and formal learning of students: Understanding the participation of parents and guardians in students' literacy. When we think of family, we understand parents and guardians. The terms literacy and literacy are adopted as an understanding that the literacy and reading processes are complementary. For theoretical foundation we have as a basis Vygotsky, Piaget, Teberosky and Ferreiro, the National Literacy Plan (2019) and the Programa Conta pra me family literacy. The research methodology is qualitative of an exploratory type, carried out in public schools, with parents and guardians as subjects. As we saw in the research analysis, parents and guardians have difficulties in effectively monitoring their children. Most of the time they go to school only to attend to bureaucratic issues. The school needs to build a culture in which the family participates more in the school, as this will build a greater bond between the two intuitions so that they can contribute to the entire process of learning and schooling for minors.
