Abstract:
A delay in psychomotor development is described as a series of postural and
movement disorders that limit the affected child. It belongs to a group of nonprogressive
disorders resulting from damage to the maturing brain and is divided into
5 levels depending on the impairment of each individual. As a result, caregivers of
these children take them to treatment centers. However, the declaration of the SARSCOV2
pandemic on March 11, 2020, resulted in the suspension of facetoface
care
and the adoption of telemonitoring, based on COFFITO Resolution No. 516/2020. As
such, the caregiver acts as an intermediary in the relationship between the stimulation
activities and the child when performing the activities at home. They are supported by
remote multidisciplinary consultations that enable the interaction between the
caregiver, environment and objects, or by the prior sending of guidelines with
instructions for performance of the activities. The aim of the study is to evaluate the
relationship developed between the caregiver of children with a delay in psychomotor
development and the objects used in the stimulation process in the home environment.
The methodology used is characterized as an exploratorydescriptive
approach,
divided into 3 stages, with a sample composed of 5 rehabilitation professionals and 15
caregivers. It follows ethical principles during the planned stages of the research,
requiring control over behavioral events. The results of the study point to the
importance of including the caregiver's experience during the design and manufacture
of objects aimed at stimulation. This considers that a product should not meet the
user's needs to the detriment of the physical and emotional wellbeing
of the caregiver
responsible for mediation between the user and the equipment.
