Abstract:
This study whose title is, Inglorious work? A study on the working conditions of urban cleaning
workers in Sousa PB, has as its central objective to know and analyze the working conditions
of urban cleaning workers in the city of SousaPB, to at the same time it seeks to deepen the
knowledge about the work category, as well as the unveiling of the local reality, taking into
account the process of invisibility of this work process. In addition, it seeks to understand the
social determinations facing this segment of workers, in view of the social issue, whose
existence is consolidated in the sphere of reproduction of the workforce, especially in what way
such labor relations they develop among themselves, aiming to understand the concrete reality.
In this sense, we highlight the various determinations present in this space, such as: the
production and reproduction of the workforce, as well as exploitation, the (in)security of
workers, the dismantling of social rights, with serious repercussions in social security rights.
The research will take place through the insertion in the field, associated with the use of
bibliographic and documentary research, of a qualitative nature, supported by historicaldialectical materialism, with the application of a socioeconomic questionnaire, as well as the
use of a semistructured questionnaire with five urban cleaning workers, through simple random
choice. The data collected through the surveybecame crucial indicators in relation to the work
objectives, such as precarious work, low wages, long working hours, workers' insecurity, job
instability, as well as other elements that directly impact the living and working conditions of
these professionals, establishing today a worrying reality in which these workers experience it.
