Résumé:
This research has the purpose of showing the street market as a space historically marked by the practice of social exchanges and sociability of human relationships. Since, the same time are materialized spatial practices of occupation and territoriality. Thus, the Central street Market of Campina Grande is a place of spatial and symbolic reference constituted of multiples aspects, such as: cultural, social, economic al and political. However, this research tried to analyze the social presentations made by the individuals in this space. In order to do this research some interviews were made with the group in focus of representatives from the main segments: The Municipal town hall, trade union, association of the traders, street market traders and consumers. In addition, another technic was used as mental maps, materialized through images made by the individuals who were taking part in the research. Therefor so, the main existents problems in Central street Market were ascertained , and, despite they present some difficulties, it is possible to see it as an important space in the construction of identities for the City.
