Résumé:
The city of Campina Grande is located in the middle region of the rough paraibano and the
micro of Ocidental Cariri paraibano, and is rote between the Litoral and the backwoods,
marsh and Cariri. The São João party of county has undergone many transformations over the
years, and the inauguration of Parque do Povo, a milestone in the centralization of definitively
festivities, and the establishment of the party while tourist event. With this evolutionary
process by which society has been embraced, the party also followed this evolution, being
transformed into a tourist merchandise, guided by the logic of capital reproduction, with
differences in the forms of consumption resulting in the problem of socio-spatial segregation.
Being a territory, of economic value, political and cultural, with the spatial structure of the
event, over the years were settling territories (the rich and the poor), delimited by the
purchasing power of each class there attending. We used qualitative methodology in this
research, with field for interviews at the event, and obtaining photographic material and
literature. We conclude that the party of São João in the Parque do Povo when transformed
into product, results in the differentiation of the forms of consumption, resulting in a sociospatial
segregation in this event, now earmarked for tourism.
