Abstract:
Nowadays, the public spaces in the cities have been suffering significant restructuring processes, both in its material aspects and the immaterial relations effected by the citizens. This scenery has been diffused, especially from the moment the citizens started experiencing social relations more and more complex, among which stands out the increase in the population density and consequently a sociospatial process of segregation, evidenced in the urban routine, especially in the capitalists countries. The increase in the violence practices emerges in these contexts, which, in some decades, have become one of the most important discussion theme to the managers of the urban areas. This research intends to analyse the special consequences of the violence practices in the use of public spaces in the central area of Campina Grande, and there were selected Bandeira Square and Clementino Procópio Square, once they were shaped as spaces that evidenced multiple intentions. The analytic procedure is structured in the qualiquantitative research (application of questionnaires, official data analysis and interviews with focus group) having as a perspective observe the effects of the actions of the violence in the process of production and redefinition of these spaces.
