Resumen:
The present work aims to analyze the main vectors of risks to water quality and environmental importance of this model for the rural population of the municipality of Barra de Santana - PB in the Brazilian semiarid. For both , were performed : 1 ) bibliographic and documentary studies, with the aim of investigating the P1MC program , 2) Field Study , to evaluate the performance of the construction of cisterns and vectors of risks to water quality ; 3 ) Applications of semistructured questionnaires to 30 families benefited from the P1MC to assess the living conditions, health and use of technical and icnográfico registration for registering several problems regarding the performance of the technique . As a result we obtained: a) the cisterns contributed to the change in view of the semiarid , enabling access to better quality water, and contributing to the increased life expectancy of the population, b) from the main vectors of risks were identified , homes spider, micro organisms , lizards , mice , snakes and plenty sands spaces in the gutters and spouts zinc, which in the long term , bring problems to human health, and c ) the performance P1MC presented as negatives: lack of monitoring problems related to cracks and leaks from tanks , knowing the need for a monitoring by the various federal , state and local maintenance of tanks segments. The P1MC has contributed in its own way, to improve the lives of countless families through social technology (cisterns), which allowed for better conditions for survival and sustainability.
