Perfil socioeconômico e os problemas ambientais urbanos a partir da percepção do morador no entorno do Açude Bodocongó: comunidade Vila dos Teimosos - Campina Grande - PB.

Abstract

There are different postures and interpretations about the environmental issue, and these ways of understanding vary from the adopted scale, but mainly, the culture of the population, and economic and political situation of each individual, nation, group, country or region that can see and use the environment in a completely different way. The research area was the community of the Village of Stubborn in the city of Campina Grande in the interior of the State of Paraíba, the village is situated on the right bank of the Bodocongó weir. The objective of the research was to make the analysis of environmental degradation in the area based on the environmental perception of the riverside population associated with the socioeconomic profile and the occupation of the area. To collect the data it was applied a semistructured questionnaire in a way to produce conditions that characterize the socioeconomic profile of the interviewed, the relations (economic, affective, sociocultural and political) the conceptions about environmental problems and ways of solving in the study area, a photographic record of the area was also used as well as a bibliographic review. The method was of the participant observation. For the realization of the research it was understood the environment as the set of conditions, influences and interactions of physical, chemical and biological order, which allows, shelter and govern life in all its forms, thus, the subject is understood as intrinsic part of the environment. It was found that the population maintains a strong link with the site, although they suffer with the consequences of pollution and environmental degradation of the weir. Another problem is the precarious infrastructure, open sewers, floods, streets full of mud mixed with sewage, garbage on vacant lots, insects and animals that transmit diseases, nonexistence of leisure area and lack of public policies that solve or mitigate the precarious situation of the community, including better environmental education to understand that they are part of the environment and to charge from the Public Power mitigating actions.
