Abstract:
This research has the objective to use geographic knowledge in defining roadmaps that
enable the visualization of elements of promotion, prevention and health risk in Campina
Grande - PB and surrounding municipalities. To perform the same we opted for the
following instruments: a) survey of references; analysis of work performed by Hygeia
journal; b) application of surveys; c) definition of itineraries of visits; d) implementation of
the database and subsequently the organization of thematic maps enabling the checking of
the prevention, promotion and health risk through geoprocessing. The results show the
reality experienced by the population of the city of Campina Grande and its surrounding
region, showing the diverse situations of this population, conditions of vulnerability, local
prevention and health promotion. We conclude that geographical knowledge is essential to
view the field roadmaps identifying the elements of prevention, promotion and health risk
and the need for further research into the geography of health.
