Resumen:
The object of study in question refers to the wholesale commercial activity in the city of
Campina Grande-PB and its micro. This commercial activity that presents with great
importance in the definition of the region of influence of the city process. The study of
the wholesale trade in Campina Grande aims specifically to obtain an overview of the
differences between this city and other relationships that make up the region, according
to its character of circulation, distribution and consumption of goods, determined from
business done within this city and the surrounding cities, ie those considered belonging
to their radius of action as well as the intensity of this influence, which is bounded from
the streams accessibility of the population living in surrounding towns in order to meet
their needs for consumption of goods and services offered there. This research is a case
study which has reference to the distribution center of “Coca-Cola” one of the most
traded commodities in the city and region. The case study is a methodological resource
whose function is to make a questioning around the business unit "sale at wholesale"
and its socio-spatial meaning, in the Northeast of Brazil. Among the specific objectives
presented: a) theoretical and methodological reflections on the topic centrality and
urban hierarchy, from the wholesale trade activity; b) Analyze the organization of
“Coca-Cola” Company, seeking to understand the different levels and spatial scales of
production and distribution, in Northeast Brazil; c) Identify the urban-regional centrality
of Central Distribution of “Coca-Cola”, in Paraíba state, from its emergence in the city
of Campina Grande.
