Abstract:
This work aims to effect a reflection on the textbook, highlighting the use of this teaching
material in geography classes nowadays as the main guiding the work of teachers in the school,
as well as its use as an instrument of influencing Lecturer. In this sense we conduct our analysis
for their training, and reflecting on the use of the textbook for them, is a critical capability that
these teachers develop or not, so do not become mere followers of the guidelines contained in
this courseware. For this, it resorts to the use of library research and field research as elements to
examine the textbook and the use thereof by the teacher in the classroom. As a result this
research considerations on the National Textbook Program (PNLD) are made, besides the
analysis of textbook Geography Project Araribá adopted by the State Elementary School and
Middle Monsignor José Borges de Carvalho, and finally brings about observations use of this
material in geography lessons, showing how these teachers have used the textbook of
Geography in the classroom, and how this feature influences on teaching practice. Thus we can
conclude that this textbook intertwined with the teaching of Geography and often comes to be
used before, during and after class. Being considered the most important resource in the
classroom and in many cases guides all pedagogic practice of teachers as to become
indispensable to the teaching of Geography.
