Resumen:
Characterized as the second most important city of Paraiba’s state, Campina Grande has undergone strong changes in its urban space, especially as regards the restructuring of its objects and functions. Such statement was seen in the results of Scientific Initiation developed between 2012/2013 which pointed to the fact that, unlike the events that marked the early decades of the twentieth century, which were responsible for the formulation of a centripetal movement of spatial functions evidenced in its space , the current urban environment of the city has been characterized by a centrifugal movement , marked by the decentralization of its main urban functions. It was based on this framework that we decided to prepare a work aimed to analyze the spatial consequences of the decentralization of the objects and functions of Campinense’s urban space process. For this, we used the grounds as a methodological qualitative framework research developed from the questionnaires’ analysis. The results point to the growth of their trade activities, education, health, housing and leisure, especially the first three, has been responsible for the emergence of specialized areas in Campinense’s urban space, jeopardizing the conception of centrality.
