Mulher, trabalho e vida no campo: um estudo junto às mulheres da comunidade rural Ligeiro - cariri paraibano.

Abstract

The work done by women, taking in reference the home and the farm work, or the activities in relation to them, make up the central object of this report. I tried to detect the conditions that influenced the process of social differentiation between the sexes, especially when we refer to the work done by these women, wheter in the ambiance of the home or in the ambiance of the rural life. With the representation of work in the home, as work of the woman, I went out to learn the mechanics that conditioned the natural attribution of the domestic job of the female sex. In the part practical of the report, I adapted a qualitative approach of reserch. Therefore, 35 women were interviewed and observed in the rural community of LigeiroCariri, Paraiba; telling me the aspects that refer to their work, to their daily lives in the domestic unit. In this study, I tried to analyse the relation of the domestic work with the work done by the women on the farm. Then I came to the hypothesis that, between these points there is a complementary relation ship, although I realize the weight of the domestic work, that means in responsibility of socializing the children and of maintaining the domestic unit. I pretended, from the time of this analysis, to learn the complaints that the women have about the work, taking in consideration the facts that they consider themselves of being only a help. I tried to understand which of the advantages and disadvantages of the work at home; what explanations they made for their daily lives and how it is interpreted.
