Resumo:
The main objective of this dissertation is to investigate the methodological strategies
used to assess the impact of public policies. The first part of this research highlights
that the evolution of the role of the state is linked to several factors, which occurred
mainly from the 1950s onwards, such as wars, technological advances and new
social demands in relation to result policies. This context also supports the evolution
of public policies, which gain complexity from the definition of the problem to the
impact assessment. In this context, we cannot fail to highlight social indicators,
capable of making diagnoses of the social reality, contributing to impact assessment.
Given the importance of the themes mentioned, such as the state, public policies and
impact assessment and social indicators, in view of the research objective, the
integrative review was used as a method. An integrative review allows a survey of
the state of the art on a specific theme. As a methodological approach, it uses
Scielo's platform and the descriptors of public policy and impact assessment. As a
result of the research, we can highlight a low scientific production in the area of
impact assessment on public policies, a greater use of quantitative methods for the
construction and evaluation of public policies and a majority search for the
construction of indicators through field research.
