Resumo:
The tourism is presented as one of the activities for promoting economic development and social
inclusion. However, the production of the tourist space has been evidenced in most coastal
environments or large urban centers, taking place without proper planning in inner towns. This
monograph appears as an offshoot of the results obtained during the Scientific Initiation, in which cave
paintings in Seridó were observed were subject as an alternative to the development of that region.
Thus, in the work presented here, we turn our attention to the potential role that the city of Pedra
Lavrada may carry out regarding the production of the tourist area of Serido, eastern Paraiba, by
identifying the elements of the landscape of the town under study. The methodological approach was
based on the techniques of qualitative research, specifically through the interview with a Focus Group
(FG) and the Collective Subject Discourse Analysis (CSDA), contributing to the data collection and
analysis. That being, the results identified that Pedra Lavrada, although having a great tourism
potential, still lacks more effective action concerning the structuring of its tourist space.
