Résumé:
This monograph analyses the geographic literacy process in students from 4th
and 5th grades in Escola Municipal Santa Ana – Alagoa Nova – PB. To its
developments, it was based in bibliographical researches of authors from
Geography and Educational field. On the other hand, it was constituted a case
study that was based on the foundations of qualitative research. To obtain the
empirical data, it was used questionnaires, in loco observations and the
enforcement of activities-tests to the students from the both of the grades
already mentioned. It was possible to prove that the geography teachers from
these grades in elementary school are not clear about the spatial literacy. In
what concerns the students, it was evident that few of them dominate the
conceptual notions and the basic procedures that denote the geographic
literacy in this level of teaching.
