Resumo:
The process of mining and industrialization isresponsible for economicgrowth and
development of variouslocations in Brazil and worldwide, It is present both in large cities
and highly developed cities as in smalltowns and rural communities. The mining
beyondaspects of social and economicdevelopment, It isresponsible for
severalenvironmentaldamagewhichsubsequentlyhas a connection withproblemsrelated to
health of those living near mining. Thus, the present studyseeks to analyze the social and
environmentalchangesthatoccurredduring the productionprocess of Bentonite ore in Boa
Vista-PB, specifically in Sítio Espinheiro orcommonlyknown as Coréacommunity,
communitynearextractionindustryBentonite ore. The theoretical and conceptual
basisisbasedon the concepts of environment, space, territory and health and seeks to analyze
the environmental and healthimpacts of communityresidents and workers.
Coréa, thatafter the installation of the plant for extraction and processing of bentonite,
imposes new dynamic to the spacehighlighting the positive and the negative aspects in the
development of mining, sensesespecially in the communitywhere the industryislocated. For
suchworkobjectiveswereachievedthrough data collection in bibliographies of the
authorswhotreat the theme in publicbodies of the Hall health system, butalso in the
communitythrough interviews withrepresentatives of mining company and
communityworkers
toanalyzethese in relation to the harmfuleffects of mining activities; It
wasalsoconductedfieldobservation and recordswithimagesthathelped to analyze the
landscape and the pursuit of interrelation of literature as the object of study.
