Abstract:
Fairs play economics, social and cultural functions that contribute to form many locations,
from villages to Cities. The City of Campina Grande corresponds to one of these
representatives that possess its formation connected to the relations promoted by these
environments. Therefore, this research aims to identify and analyze the continuities and
possible modifications occurred in the Liberdade Fair, as its stability in the current
commercial circuit even with the new comercial forms, therefore, it was sought to identify
the factors that led its resistance in the sector. Therefore, the new forms of trade, the
economics and cultural transformations, the new habits of consume, the effects of
competitiveness are aspects of this research in the area of urban and commercial geography.
To develop this research, it was used the following methodological tools: study area
characterization; Questionnaires application; Photographic record and elaboration of
thematic maps. In summary, the main results consisted in identifying new content, forms and
actions, according to the new logical and changes in market and consumption, resulting in a
dynamic space of coexistences, with the presence of multiple commercial forms, from old
and new.
