Resumo:
In this work, we have approached the use of rap and graffiti as potential languages in the methodological practice for the teaching of School Geography. This research has come out because we have identified potentialities of those tools adopted as didactic resources, providing us with a great deal of possibilities in order to be worked in the classroom. Facing the lack of satisfaction with the mnemonic teaching proposals which is a common aspect to school environment, mainly for Geography teaching, we have seen that those tiresome practices may be easily found in the modality for Young and Adult Education – YAE (EJA in Brazilian Portuguese) – our research focus – where evident problem is the rooted practice in traditional methods and contents with merely descriptive information, not opening possibilities to reflections about the everyday life. Thus, working the student‟s routine comes to be the most adequate way to get to the knowledge comprehension, taking as a view that, knowing that his previous knowledge will be worth, and that he is active person in the knowledge building, the subject and content gain new meaning, generating pleasure and interest about what is being exposed in the classroom. By responding to those needs, we search by means of using music
lyrics of the gender mentioned above, and photographic registrations of graffiti, alternatives to be contributions in the citizenship formation of those people, as well as stimulating and attracting them, enriching each specifics, reality, and opinion of each student, thus giving meaning to their world, and starting debates and knowledge exchange along our meetings. Coming to the conclusion that rap and graffiti may become efficient tool in the classroom, mainly to approach topics which were long ago mnemonic, as well as involve values as citizenship, environment preservation, and public property, quite often forgotten, or very little explored in the classroom, making sure the importance of the use of the playful practice in order to attract students thus making the lessons something pleasant for them.
