The commercial space of Feira de Areia - PB: commercial forms, consumption and persistence. The street market is shaped as a space where people periodically gather to promote the town’s economy, in which agriculturalists sell their rural character products. Furthermore, it foments several changes with respect to the dynamics of the city. Thus, was aimed with this work to comprehend the dynamics within the Areia-PB’s Street Market from the knowledge of the origins of the fair and its relation with the town´s establishment, verifying its geographical position, identifying the existing commercial forms in the said fair and investigating its importance for users and workers, not only in the economic context, but in social as well. To achieve the proposed goals, interviews were conducted with the fair dealers, searching to know their life stories, and with the consumers through qualitative and quantitative questionnaires; Survey of the quantity of fair dealers, bibliographical survey and data interpretation was done. It was perceived that the local fair exerted regional importance for the formation and consolidation of the town. However, over the decades the modernization of the commerce has made supermarkets come to emerge even bigger and more hygienic, bakeries offering not only bread, but also other products. Like this, the fair has not been able to hold consumers, causing a loss in
the fairground economy.
