Resumo:
The cattle breeding raising focused on milk production is one of the main agricultural
sectors in the country, bringing a considerable contribution to the gross domestic product of the
Brazilian agrarian sector and being very important for the supply of the domestic market, in
addition to the great importance historically played in the country along with the beef cattle and
agriculture. Thus, the main objective of this research is to analyze the importance of dairy cattle
raising for the organization of the agrarian space in the municipality of Gado Bravo, also
considering the socioeconomic and historical importance of the activity at national, regional,
and state levels. To achieve this goal, we followed the following methodological path: initially,
we carried out a literature review to analyze the context of livestock practice at different levels
of analysis, from the national to the local context, we also surveyed statistical data to better
understand the practice of activity, both in its economic data and in its productive aspects, in
addition to that, we also adopted the observation of the local reality, both for the very experience
of life in the place, as well as for carrying out other researches in this area of study. From this
it was possible to understand that dairy farming is an important factor in the structuring of the
agrarian space of Gado Bravo, being very relevant in historical, social, and economic terms for
the local population and occupying prominent positions at the state level about the production
process.
