Abstract:
Among so many discussions about the teaching of Geography, one of the evidences is the study of the
place and landscape . In this context, it opens space for the study of the street market, because the sociospatial
dynamic of the street market in the current period comprises something still visible in the
commercial spaces of many urban locations, especially small regional urban centers, as is the case of
Aroeiras-PB. Therefore, the present work aims to study the interrelationships that take place in the space
of the street market of the mentioned city, examining how the school children interact with this place
through the fieldwork, in search of the geographical knowledge. In the development of this research, it
was carried out bibliographic reviews about geography teaching, study of the place and he street market.
In addition, for the conduct of this research we used the participant research, in which the subjects and
the object are mutually related. Thus, the fieldwork was an essential tool to the geographical
conceptualization process of the students, with the concepts of landscape and place being detached and,
consequently, this instrument contributed to the empirical research as well as to the construction of the
knowledge by the students.
