Résumé:
Writing about the teaching of Geography in basic education is not an easy task, since little
is discussed the teaching of geography in the initial grades and mainly in multi-series
classes. Thus, the main objectives of Geography in the initial series are to enable the
student to experience the space in which he lives, to recognize the world around him. The
present article aims to present a study on the challenges of geography teaching in the
initial series in a multi-series room, specifically, 1st and 2nd years: a case study at EMEIF
João Laurentino de Carvalho-Lagoa Seca-PB. We use in this research the qualitative
methodology, because it "does not follow such a rigid sequence. The instruments used,
then, provided the reflection, not only to analyze the data collected, but to the continuous
interpretation of social realities. In the observations made in the classes of the first and
second years of the studied school, it was verified that little or almost nothing is taught
geography, either by the insignificance given to this discipline by the organs that organize
the education system, or by the initial deficient formation that has the teacher and by the
inexistence of continuous training that is not offered to him and when some content is
attributed to geography is used a traditional teaching conception, only decorate dates and
names that little influence for the reflection of the space lived by the student.
