Resumen:
Conducting human actions on a sustainable course requires an understanding of the capacities
and fragilities intrinsic to geographical spaces. Environmental degradation is characteristic of
the predatory model of unpopular use of space and requires, more and more urgently,
planning, not only physicalterritorial
but also socioenvironmental.
In this sense, it is
necessary that the physical and socioeconomic characteristics be evaluated in an integrated
way. This study aims to characterize and evaluate the environmental fragilities that lead to
the desertification the municipalities that are part of the Paraíba Western Cariri2 microregion,
process through the use of geotechnologies in the elaboration of maps of geology,
slope, soil, vegetation and climate to later build the environmental fragility indexes of the
microregion.
For this, two methodological models were used: Ross (1994) and Crepani et
al., (2001), which resulted in the elaboration of physical mapping and socioeconomic charts
of Geographic Space under discussion. The use of geoprocessing is an important tool in the
evaluation of this study in which the data obtained in Qgis 18.1 software and temporal
analysis of NDVI were manipulated. The environmental fragility map was made from maps
of geolodia, declivity, soil, vegetation and climate. The study of the Environmental Fragilities
provides and improve the directions related to the implementation of management actions in
the physicalterritorial
space offering subsidies so that measures are implemented in a
planned and conscious way.
