Resumo:
The planting of medicinal herbs in backyards of residence is common in the urban zone of several Brazilian cities. In Montadas, the Consolation Neighborhood is one of the districts that still remains the custom of the cultivation in peridomicile. This is an exploratory, qualitativequantitative research in the city of Montadas PB that aims to make an ethnobotanical survey of medicinal plants cultivated in in the area around the residences in the Consolation Neighborhood in Montadas PB. In order to make this study feasible, the following procedures were performed: a) survey of references; b) documentary survey; c) application of forms; d) sample collection for further identification; (e) use of the snowball technique; f) field book; g) spatialization of the most commonly medicinal plants used. With this, it was possible to identify the areas that grow medicinal plants in their backyards and to draw the profile of the population that uses these herbs most, since many still use medicinal plants because it is the only resource they have at their disposal. From the field work it was verified that the residents still remain the custom of cultivating medicinal plants in their peridomicile.
