The cultivation of several plants in a consortium system is a viable alternative for family farmers.One experiment were conducted at the Experimental Farm Rafael Fernandes in Alagoinha district, a rural area of Mossoró-RN, in the period from 09/10/2016 to 12/15/2016, with the objective of studying the agronomic characteristics of the constellation of mint with arugula fertilized with different amounts of jitirana. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with treatments arranged in factorial 2 x 4 with three replications. The first factor consisted of monocropping and intercropping mint and coriander, and the second factor was the different doses of jitirana mixed with manure (0.0, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 kg m- 2 site). For mint culture was used to cultivate "Mentha piperita". For arugula culture was used to cultivate "Cultivada".The characteristics evaluated for the Mint culture were as follows: height of biomass, fresh weight, number of sauces, dry mass, oil content and yield. The characteristics evaluated for arugula were: height and number of leaves per plant, yield, number of sauces and dry mass of arugula. The best agronomic performance of the system was obtained in the amount of 3.0 kg m-2 of jitirana. The consortium presented an equivalent area ratio of more than 1.0, with an average value of 1.37 in the amount of 3.0 kg m-2 of jitirana incorporated in the soil. There was a better use of available resources (water, fertilizer, soil and light) without compromising the commercial quality of mint and arugula.
